written in the Word, and thus you will note that we will use the Four
Letter “Memorial Name” of
- YHVH,
which is pronounced as YaHVaH or YaHWaH. In addition we will also
use our Heavenly Father’s attribute/title, which is Elohim rather
than “God,” which sadly is the name of a pagan god. In addition we
also love to use the actual and real Name of our beloved Messiah which
is 
- Yahushua or Yahshua in short, for
this is our Saviours original Hebrew Name as given to Him at birth in Lukas
- Luke 1:31. This was the only Name ever used when He was on the earth by His
family, disciples and His followers OVER THE centuries, even until today!
However, it was changed to a foreign name by the founder of the new
“pagan church of
“Phinehas Vs Modern
Ethics”

In this study based on Bamidbar
- Numbers 25:1-18 we are going to be looking at an
interesting subject, but to do so we must firstly need to understand the vast
differences between the actions observed in the day’s of the Tanach, the
Old Covenant and the actions and reactions in the modern age!
By our understanding there was a rather sad
incident that was recorded in Bamidbar - Numbers chapter 25, I pray that
because of it we will be able to gauge a better and an in-depth measurement of ourselves,
as well as our relationship with YaHVaH Elohim.
But what was so different?
1… This event took place around 1530 BCE.
2… At that time in ancient days respect and honour to a King was supreme. For example for anyone desiring to have an audience with the king, prior arrangements would have to be made and if accepted, you would have to wait in the court and you would not be permitted to utter a word until the kings sceptre is held out in your direction, which was a sign for you to respectfully approach and come just a little closer. To make a move earlier or speak would spell an instant death sentence. For interest; this fact just proves the amazing event of Eliyahu - Elijah the prophet who simply walked into the palace and spoke to the king without prior arrangements or even asking. He even threatened him and when finished, Eliyahu did what was considered as the greatest act of evil for the king, for he turned his back on him and walked out! But then again he was a true man of YaHVaH and he was protected by his true King, the Almighty Elohim!
3... YaHVaH was present visibly in the camp of
4… Moshe’s face shone!
5… Miracles were done by YaHVaH, such as
the Ten Plagues in
6… His Holiness could be felt everywhere from YaHVaH’s presence.
7… His presence of the fire by night and smoke by day and that feeling of His holiness only occurred for 40 years on the earth.
So with this understanding let us go into the
story of what actually happened and why it was so extreme.
Bamidbar - Numbers 25: 1-18.
“Now
Then YHVH said to Moshe - Moses, ‘Take
all the leaders of the people and hang the offenders before YHVH, out in the
sun that the fierce anger of YHVH may turn away from
So Moshe said to the judges of
And indeed, one of the children of
Now the name of the Israelite who was killed with the Midianite woman, was Zimri the son of Salu, a leader of a father's house among the Simeonites. And the name of the Midianite woman who was killed was Cozbi the daughter of Zur; he was head of the people of a father's house in Midian.
Then YHVH spoke to Moshe, saying: ‘Harass the Midianites, and attack them; for they harassed you with their schemes by which they seduced you in the matter of Peor and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a leader of Midian, their sister, who was killed in the day of the plague because of Peor.”

When we read in the Word that a man takes a
woman into his tent it means he had sexual relations with her, but in this
Scripture it is far more direct, as verse 1 stated; “and the people began
to commit harlotry with the women.” We should all know that one sin will
usually lead to another sin, and as we have read that many went and worshipped
the pagan god Baal of Peor. To do this knowing that the Almighty has given
direct commandments against these evil acts, as well as doing this in front and
in view of Moshe and the Congregation was outright rebellion!
From having read this Scripture we have seen the breach of YaHVaH’s blessed Covenant, because of man’s evil heart. Therefore the Almighty gave a direct order, which may seem very harsh to us in this day, but remember we live in very different times, for Yahushua the Messiah has come and redemption is available to all!
“Then YHVH said to Moshe, ‘Take

Because Elohim was amongst the congregation
this act was seen as being righteous by YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His
Sanctified Name, to slay those evil pagan men and women who has whored and
worshipped Baal, by Phinehas. If this act by Phinehas was done outside of this
time frame without Elohim’s presence amongst them then Phinehas’
action would have been condemned as murder and rightly so.
Now this event had one very special ingredient
amongst it and that was YaHVaH Elohim Himself! For He was present and close to
them, unlike any other event in History, and Elohim blessed him.
As we can not reproduce the above event in
these days, we would not know how we would react, being so close to
Elohim’s presence as Moshe and the Israelites were at that time. Because
they did not react to this in horror, for we would have to dig very much deeper
as to why?
But if we had been there as a witnesses to
that event living in the timeframe, we would not have felt that it was wrong,
because YaHVaH the Sanctified One sanctioned it, and you would know within
yourself that it was right, and with no feelings of remorse, of guilt or pain
would be associated with this event. We would have been, as those who were the
faithful in the Almighty, for we would know the mind of Elohim, and His
surrounding 24 hour Presence that would give us His special peace, not our type
of peace, as well as His judgment and not our kind of judgment, for His
presence is so special and all encompassing!
Beloved, we must put this whole event into
place, in order to understand these events of this chapter’s incident into
modern times, for it would be like a man and women coming into your fellowship
whilst the blessed Scriptures has just been opened and being read out, whilst
they commence having sex in front of the congregation. How would you feel? I do
know how our heavenly Father would feel, but I am sure that you would be very
angry, if not outraged. Therefore, you can imagine how it was back at that time
when YaHVaH Elohim’s presence was manifest in the midst of the Children
of Israel, yet there were still those who had seen His great miracles, works,
blessings as well as punishments, but still went ahead and did this great evil
in front of Him! I so often wonder, where was their love of the Elohim who had
saved them, as well as their fear and respect of YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His
Sanctified Name!
There is no doubt that Elohim, allows us to be
human. But why is it so hard for us to allow Him to be our beloved Elohim and
let Him be everything to us?
The Perfect Word!
For the faithful in Yahushua the Messiah, we can be thankful for the prophetic Word that YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, for throughout the Tanach, the Old Covenant we can read about Messiah’s coming, especially in the first three “Feasts of YHVH” as recorded Vayikra – Leviticus chapter 23, whilst the next four feasts have further meanings related to our blessed Messiah. Each of the feasts represents an event, from the Passover Lamb and it goes right through to the New Heaven and the New Earth and New Jerusalem, etc, thus it is worth studying, see: “The Feasts of YHVH.”
Did you realise that the book of Yeshayahu -
Isaiah is very much a book that covers both the Tanach, the Old Covenant and
the Brit Chadashah, the New Covenant? It is important to note that the blessed
Scriptures is made up of 66 books, the very same number of chapters in the book
of Yeshayahu - Isaiah. As per example, the 39 books of the Tanach contain
prophecies and details regarding our blessed Messiah and there are 27 books in
the Brit Chadashah, the New Covenant.
It is interesting to note that just as the
Word takes a big change in the 40th.book for
it speaks about the Messiah and Yochanan the Immerser or John the Baptist, but
read chapter 40:5 of Yeshayahu - Isaiah, for it is like stepping into the 40th.book and into the World of Mattityahu –
Matthew when he stated; “The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way of YHVH’” (Mattityahu – Matthew
3:3). And of course Yeshayahu - Isaiah has many prophecies relating to Messiah,
especially in chapter 53!
Friends, we have a wonderful and a powerful
Word that YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, has given us and we
should be joyful unto Him and understand Him, both during the days of old,
especially when He was present with His People of Israel, by fire at night and
by smoke during the day over the Tabernacle in the Wilderness, as well as the
overflowing of the presence of His Holiness and His Word that He had given His
servant Moshe on Mt Sinai!
And this was the same Elohim who had saved
them out of that evil and severe and painful bondage, by great and miraculous
wonders and had opened the Red Sea, and He gave them Manna, as well as birds to
eat, and water to drink from a rock. This was the Elohim who had done countless
miracles for His people, yet there were still those who turned against Him and
whored and worshiped these female goddesses.
If we think about all this, I feel that we can
better understand why the action was taken at that time, under these
conditions, knowing what those people had seen and actually experienced from
Egypt right up to that time it was for that reason the punishment was so severe!
The Question is - Is there a lesson in all this, I believe so!
YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name,
will judge a man on the understandings and experiences of what He has seen and
with those relating directly how that person responds to Him. Every given case
is tailor made for each individual person on the entire Earth. So your response
is directly related to His Judgement upon you. Whether it is the Judgement of
Life, the Judgement of Death or the Judgement of Correction. It is for that
very reason we need to make sure that we stand right with Him and that means on
a sure foundation, having accepted Messiah Yahushua as our Saviour, Who gave
His life for us and that we should follow His Father’s and
Messiah’s teachings and instructions, as well as those of His Apostles,
for sadly so-called religious men and teachers have led far too many astray
with Roman doctrines.
Never forget who our Messiah and Saviour is, for it has been made very clear throughout the Tanach, the Old
Covenant, especially in Tehillim - Psalms and in Yeshayahu - Isaiah …
As we can see so clearly in this verse that
“YaHVaH Elohim, The King of Israel” is the Father, then we
read, “and His Redeemer YaHVaH of Hosts.” Thus, here
we have seen two who are identified as being YaHVaH, yet they are ONE, truly
“Echad,” which is the Hebrew word for One, meaning two or more
being one, such as;
“… a man leave his father and his
mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be One (Echad) flesh.”
Beloved in Messiah, YaHVaH Elohim is
calling out to you;
“‘Return to Me,’ says YHVH of hosts, ‘and I will return to you,’ says YHVH of hosts.” Zecharyah - Zechariah 1:3.
We should also know that Messiah’s Name
was NOT Jesus, as this is a name that was created much later and it is best for
you to read the “Memorial Name” and a link is located at the very
top of the page! You may ask, well what is Messiah’s real Name? The
answer is very simple, for the Strongs Concordance has been telling us for
countless years! It is “Yahushua,” being the very same name
of a faithful Old Covenant person who we all know today as
“Joshua,” but whom the Hebrews (Jews) call “Yahushua”
to this day! Just look at Strongs number NT2424 and OT3091, although Strongs
does spell it the Gentile way – “Jehoshua,” based on the
false Jehovah (JWs) name, and not on “Yah” – YaHVaH’s
most blessed and Sanctified Name!
Yahushua clearly said the following many
times, and what He said is what He meant!
“I will do whatever you ask in My Name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask Me for anything in My Name.” Yochanan - John 14:13-14.
Beloved, I pray that this study which in part
has covered rather harsh subject will have stirred you, as well has touched you
to take action to search His Word and return again unto Him, in and through
Yahushua the Messiah!
“Teach me Your way, O YHVH. I will walk in Your truth.
UNITE MY HEART TO FEAR YOUR NAME!”
